Professional Bookkeeper
Provide corporate accounting services including preparation and analysis of financial statements and reports and assist clients’ corporate controllers and CFO’s 

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

  • Ten years of progressively responsible accounting experience

  • Working knowledge of GAAP

  • Highly proficient with Quickbooks desktop and online versions

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word, and Outlook 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.  Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.  Must be able to effectively communicate financial information and analysis to the client

  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy and strong attention to detail

TITLE:  Accounting/Tax Staff
CLASSIFICATION:  Full-time

Summary of responsibilities:

  • Responsible for managing client relationship by organizing and coordinating clients’ data for the accurate and timely completion of financial statements engagements in accordance with U.S. GAAP, completion of individual and business tax returns, and ongoing business consulting.

Essential Functions:

  1. Performs diversified accounting and auditing and tax assignments.

  2. Demonstrates competency in technical skills, work quality, and application of professional and firm standards.

  3. Meets time constraints and client deadlines.

  4. Participates in planning and scheduling client engagements.

  5. Determines the extent of testing required in an audit and selects the transactions to be tested.

  6. Prepares working papers in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

  7. Prepares routine correspondence to client.

  8. Drafts financial statement including footnotes in accordance with U.S. GAAP.

  9. Must have exceptional communication skills and a solid business background.

Other functions:

  1. Seasonal tax assignments, other reports, special projects, and duties as may be assigned.

Required Experience:

  1. At least two (2) years’ experience in public accounting, demonstrating a progression in complexity of auditing and accounting tasks and tax knowledge.

Educational Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting; Master’s degree in accounting preferred.

  2. Minimum of forty hours continuing professional education is required each year.

Required Licenses, Certificates or Knowledge:

  1. Either hold a current and valid certified public accountant’s license or be working toward obtaining the license by taking and passing the State of Michigan CPA exam.

  2. If licensed, should be a member in good standing with the AICPA and MiCPA.

  3. Proficiency in use of computers and computer accounting and tax software programs.
