Richard Payter has more than 51 years of experience in public accounting. After over 45 years as a shareholder in Payter & Schwartz P.C., Richard Payter merged his accounting practice with Fenner, Melstrom & Dooling, PLC on January 5, 2026.
Throughout his career, he has advised his clients on all aspects of accounting, taxation, and business planning. He has extensive experience with clients in general business operations. He also worked in the construction and retail business.
Richard, after serving eight years in the Michigan Air National Guard, received an honorable discharge. He has a degree in Business Administration from Wayne State University and a Master of Science Degree in Taxation from Walsh College.
When not in the office, Richard enjoys spending time with his family and grandchildren in northern Michigan, hunting, fishing, traveling and playing golf.
