Client’s Responsibilities
As an FMD Client, you are responsible for the following:
To share your current financial situation, needs, and objectives, as well as changes in your financial and personal circumstances. Appropriate recommendations can be made. You should make time to meet with us on a regular basis, at least annually, to review and revise your financial plan or as needed based upon changing circumstances. Be sure to keep us informed and consult with us prior to end of the tax year.
To provide information required for preparation of complete and accurate returns and provide information to us in a timely manner so that we have a reasonable period of time to prepare the returns prior to their due dates. You should keep all documents, canceled checks, and other data that support your reported income and deductions. They may be necessary to prove accuracy and completeness of the returns to a taxing authority. All of your original records will be returned to you at the end of this engagement. You should keep the original records in secure storage.
To maintain and provide all financial and tax-related documents on a timely basis so as to allow completion of your tax filings by the intended tax deadline. Such documents include but are not limited to Form W-2, 1099, K-1, alimony paid or received, business or farming income including profit/loss statement and capital equipment information, IRA and pension distribution, rental property income and expenses, Social Security benefits and any other income related to tax preparation.
To review all financial documentation and tax returns in their entirety. Be sure to ask for clarification of anything you do not understand.
Your return may be selected for examination by state or federal tax agencies. In that event, we will be available to assist you in defending and explaining the return. That service is not part of our engagement to prepare your returns and would be the subject of a separate agreement for services.
To make timely payments for services rendered. Invoices are due upon receipt.
